Billericay firsts' realistic hopes of promotion all but ended at the hands of Fives & Heronians at the weekend.

Bowling first, Billericay's bowlers failed to contain the runs despite taking wickets as Mick Perry top scored with 97.

After the two openers were quickly dismissed by Greg Hammond, the middle order dominated before captain Stuart Rutland's off-spin restricted the score from becoming unobtainable as he took 6-71.

255 all out was the target, but the away side's batsmen struggled against the mid-tabled hosts. Phil Reynolds batting at 11 almost brought Billericay back into contention as he made 31, Billericay's highest scorer, but they fell inevitably short being bowled out for 183.

Fourth in the league, 24 points off the promotion places and with only two game left leaves Billericay looking like they'll just miss out this season.
